Jon Wilkins was a cofounder of Naked, a prolific agency that burst into the world in the year 2000 then rampaged into some of the toughest advertising markets to establish itself as a much admired creative force.
The agency attracted brilliant misfits and championed the idea of communications planning (using media in novel ways and in ways that magnified or played with the campaign ideas – as opposed to just stuffing them into a generic media plan).
After Naked, Jon was hired as Executive Chairman of Karmarama and he is now Global Managing Director of the Creative Council at Accenture Interactive. Yes, he’s had a big career.
In this first part of a two-part chat, we discuss Naked:
- how and why it started,
- how it thought, whether it could start again now and
- what would have to be different for it to succeed now.
